Followers gadget wrong display

In Blogger Help Forum, a number of times I encountered questions regarding problems with Followers gadget profile display. Here are two examples:

I have added an image to my profile, it shows up on the dashboard, however when I check on blogs that I'm following,  no photo is shown.

My Follower name is wrong! On the blogs I follow, my real name is listed, instead of my Blogger nickname.

Most people assume that their Blogger profile is used in Followers gadget. Well that can be true, but not necessarily so. This is because you can change which profile to be used in the Followers gadget.

Back to the questions. To solve the above problems is a matter of selecting the “right” profile for each site that you follow.

  1. Go to Dashboard, under Reading List, towards the bottom there is a Manage button.manage
  2. Click that button and you will see a list of blogs you currently follow.settings
  3. Then click Settings link on the right of the blog that you have problem with.settings1
  4. In Settings you can choose which profile to be used in the Followers gadget. Click change to select a profile.settings2
  5. Click on the profile of your choice.
  6. View the profile gadget at the site to confirm.
  7. Enjoy!

A reader asked (in another post) how to block a follower.
So here is the answer.
Go to Dashboard. On the right side of your blog name, there is a link showing the blog followers count. Click that link and you'll see all followers for the blog. Click the follower's avatar and you'll see an option to block the user.

Mr. greenlava, i can't seem to find any css code for 'follower' widget.

Nadya Maraya,
You are using a classic template. You can't add Followers gadget, but you can add Members gadget, which does the same thing I think.
Go to Google FriendConnect and sign in. Click on the site you want to add the gadget to. Click Members Gadgets, then click Add a Members gadget link. Do the setup, then generate the code. Lastly copy the code and paste it in your template HTML.

super frustrated - no response when i select 'settings' - (under manage reading list)

@b thinking
You can also access Settings by clicking your avatar in the Follower's widget.
Go to the blog you follow, click your avatar in the Follower's widget. In the pop up, the Settings link is located in top right corner.

Hi,
I tried to add the follower gadget on my blog and it gives me a message saying "please correct the errors on this form" can you help me? my blog is http://probablyesme.blogspot.com
Thanks =)

@Rocio Esmeralda
You probably entered an invalid color code. A color code is made up of six digits, from #000000 (black) to #FFFFFF (white).

Hi,
I have the same profile picture for my blog and Google profiles. I can only make my picture appear when I follow someones blog, by using my Google profile. Using Blogger profile brings up the generic silhouette. I have got "share profile" checked in blogger, and I've removed and reuploaded the image, and it appears in my profile fine.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions,

Cheers,
Lisa

Gawgus things... January 24, 2011 at 8:04 PM

Hi! I've tried this and still my profile won't show up when I try to follow someone. When I leave a comment, it's fine, but not when I follow. I've checked everything and it all looks fine so I'm at a complete loss as to what to do next. Any help would be gratefully appreciated!

@Lisa
Sorry I wish I could help, but I don't have any suggestion. You seems to have covered all avenues.

@Gawgus things...
Have you checked the "share profile" checkbox like Lisa did?

No worries, I just sign in with Google and it's all good,

Cheers,

Thank you for showing me how to fix this. I was very frustrated that I couldn't get my Blogger Profile to show up in the Following of people. Solved. Thanks.
